I’m excited to share that I was recently featured in an interview with CanvasRebel Magazine, where I had the chance to talk about my journey as a dancer, teacher, and studio owner.

CanvasRebel is known for highlighting the stories of artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs who are building meaningful careers through passion and persistence. Their interviews dive deeper into the experiences, challenges, and motivations that shape creative professionals.

Reflecting on the Path That Led Me Here

Being asked to share my story gave me the opportunity to reflect on the path that led me to where I am today.

Dance has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. What began as a passion eventually grew into a career centered around teaching, mentoring, and guiding the next generation of dancers.

Owning and operating a dance studio is both incredibly rewarding and incredibly demanding. Every day involves balancing the artistic side of dance with the responsibilities of running a business — from training dancers and developing curriculum to building a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow.

The Heart of Our Studio Community

One of the most meaningful parts of my journey is being part of a studio that has served our community for generations.

Dance studios are special places. They become a second home for many students — a place where they build friendships, develop discipline, learn perseverance, and discover confidence in themselves.

Watching students grow from their first class into confident, capable dancers is one of the most fulfilling aspects of this work.

It’s not just about technique or performances. It’s about shaping strong, resilient young people who carry those lessons into every part of their lives.

The Realities Behind the Scenes

Like any entrepreneurial journey, building and sustaining a studio comes with challenges.

Running a creative business requires resilience, adaptability, and a deep love for what you do. There are long days, constant decision-making, and moments where you have to trust the vision you’ve built.

But every challenge is balanced by the incredible moments that make it worthwhile — seeing a dancer master something they once thought was impossible, watching a student’s confidence grow, or seeing former students return to share how dance shaped their lives.

Those moments are reminders of why this work matters so much.

Why Sharing Our Stories Matters

Opportunities like this interview allow artists and business owners to share the deeper story behind their work.

Dance is about more than movement — it’s about expression, discipline, creativity, and community. By sharing these experiences, we can inspire others to pursue their passions and recognize the value that the arts bring to our communities.

I’m grateful to CanvasRebel for the opportunity to share my journey and for highlighting the importance of creative careers.
